Main Engine – Lubricating oil pump- Fabrication of new shaft & Pump overhaul

PROJECTS

Fabrication of a new shaft and full overhaul of the main engine lubricating oil pump in Brisbane, including off-landing, workshop reassembly, and Class NK-certified onboard installation to meet AMSA sailing clearance.

Before arrival in port Brisbane on 11 May 2024, the vessel reported that the shaft for the Main Engine Lubricating oil pump was found sheared off near the bearing seating area.

The defect was reported to AMSA by the vessel and vessel was allowed to sail only after the completion of the repair of the Main Engine Lubricating oil pump.

Our team traveled to Brisbane and arranged for the off-landing of the complete pump assembly from the vessel. A new shaft was fabricated as per the dimensions of the broken shaft. The pump was assembled in the workshop and the clearances are within the limit.

The vessel completed the cargo operation and was shifted to the inner anchorage. We have arranged for a launch boat service and transferred the overhauled pump to the vessel. Installation was carried out onboard the vessel under the supervision of our Technical Superintendent. Testing of the pump was carried out satisfactorily in the presence of a Class NK surveyor and vessel released by AMSA for sailing.
